Highlights of the 2nd edition of iGM event: Welcome to Andalusia.
On the 26th of September, 70 professionals representing more than 25 iGaming companies in Southern Spain and Gibraltar took part in the second edition of the quarterly iGM networking event. The event took place at the Andalusian style villa in San Pedro. The theme of the event highlighted the beauty of Andalusian region to the attendees who already live here, those who just moved in or planning to relocate soon. The participants were treated to a flamenco show, served free-flowing wine, and Spanish tapas. Industry professionals showed a lot of interested, thereby consolidating the status of iGM success. Betfred lands shirt sponsorship deal with LaLiga’s Mallorca.
Spanish LaLiga football club RCD Mallorca has entered into a new shirt sponsorship deal with bookmaker Betfred. Betfred will now serve as the club’s main sponsor for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, with its logo to appear on the front of players’ shirts. The bookmaker’s branding will also feature prominently around the team’s San Moix home stadium, as well as the club’s official website. “We are thrilled to have Betfred utilise RCD Mallorca as a vehicle to achieve its strategy of international expansion,” RCD Mallorca chief executive, Maheta Molango, said. “In addition to this, we recognise our goals and this is also a strategic partnership for RCD Mallorca within an important context of the British, Spanish and international markets.” BetFred’s co-owner, Fred Done, added: “The agreement with RCD Mallorca is the first partnership we have made outside of the UK. The deal to be the principal partner of the Spanish club is one we believe will assist our planned expansion both in Spain and internationally.” The deal was facilitated by Sportradar’s ads holistic marketing solution. Swedish FA blasts regulator in football betting suspension row.
The Swedish Football Association (SvFF) has hit out at the country’s gambling regulatory body Spelinspektionen for not prohibiting licenced operators from offering betting on a domestic club football competition, despite its warning of suspected match-fixing. Last month, the SvFF revealed that it had received reports of match-fixing in 13 games in Division 2 Södra Svealand and advised Spelinspektionen to implement a prohibitive ban on operators allowing betting on the competition. However, Spelinspektionen declined this request, saying that the Swedish Gaming Act does not support prohibitions or other such measures to combat the manipulation of sporting results. The regulator also said it is working to develop regulations that will address the SvFF’s concerns. The SvFF has now hit back, with its general secretary, Håkan Sjöstrand, saying the organisation does not agree with the regulator’s “narrow interpretation” of the Gaming Act. “It must be possible for the responsible authority to make quick decisions in more urgent situations of this kind, otherwise, this must be clarified in the legislation,” Sjöstrand said. The SvFF also wrote to a number of gambling operators in Sweden, requesting that they halt any betting on the division. Playtech enters Portugal with Solverde Group.
iGaming solutions giant Playtech has expanded into Portugal’s regulated online gaming market after signing a long-term partnership with local casino operator Solverde Group. Under the agreement, Playtech will provide its IMS player management platform to CasinoSolverde.pt, the online casino site operated by Solverde. CasinoSolverde.pt will use IMS as its core platform, allowing it to launch a suite of tailored Playtech games. The operator will also benefit from data-driven tools and capabilities that feature on the platform.
